Artistic gift guide

Still looking for a Christmas gift? I prepared a personalized gift guide based on stuff my favourite (contemporary) artists create.
Wciąż szukacie prezentów świątecznych? Przygotowałam małe zestawienie sklepów moich ulubionych współczesno-blogowych artystów.

1. Ulrika Kestere - according to her facebook she gives free shipping and $5 off all items in her shop until Decembet 8th.
Ulrika Kestere oferuje darmową przesyłkę i 5$ zniżki z każdej rzeczy ze swojego sklepu do 8. grudnia.

2. Sophie Blackall connects classy and contemporary style and I love it!

3. Do you know the sweet cats from Hello Harriet? You have 15% off every item in her etsy shop when you use the code SCATHINGLYBRILLIANT (source - Kate's blog) until Decembet 8th. I already bought something here for my sister!

4.  Ohmycavalier is one of the shops where I like every single item. Whether it's 2014 calendar, Plant love, or Nap prit, I want it all! Unfortunately I don't know any coupon code.

5. In Caitlin's shop I bought a gift for myself... at the beginning of November. She has a 50% discount for all prints with the code DIVINE and 20% for all clothing with the code WONDERFUL.

Have a nice shopping!
Julia

PS: All the images are taken from the linked shops // Wszystkie obrazki są wzięte z zalinkowanych sklepów

Packing my stuff for a trip to Tuscany {Salvador Dalí bluse}

Just a quick note to say that I'm currently getting ready for a trip to Tuscany. We're going to the same place we've been to last year. I hope I'll bring more pretty pictures with mystical tuscan feel.

Salvador Dalí mówi do widzenia!

Artists inspire: Alphonse Mucha is all around

A box from the Alphonse Mucha Museum in Prague.

Transfered pockets I made. (I still dream of a dress inspired by Mucha)

Purse I made and use for about 4 month.

Who is your favourite artist? Is it remarkable in your everyday life?
Julia

Artisis inspire: Alphonse Mucha pockets and how to transfer on fabric

Recently I'm obsessed with painters on clothes. I ordered a dress with a self-portrait of Salvador Dali and try to win the auction of a dress with Klimt pattern. Of course I wouldn' be myself if I didn't make something like this by myself! This project is not big, but I like the result and the character it gives.

What you'll need: pants without back pockets (or any other piece that you think should have pockets!), transfer paper & a printer, piece of fabric in suitable colour, sewing machine and basic skills.

1. Print the pattern on a sheet of transfer paper. If it has any text, remember to make a mirror rotation! Cut exactly the shape you need.

2. Now you should follow the transfer instruction given with the photo transfer paper. You'll probably need to iron for about 1 minute or so. Make the print on a piece of fabric that has the dimensions you need to make pockets.

3. Sew only the 'shape' of pockets. I hope you know what I mean. The result should look like in the photo above. Your almost-pockets are ready to sew on pants!

This project is really easy, so if you want to change your wardrobe a bit you can use this method. Transfer directly on clothes or try adding some details like this!

Have a beautiful day,
Julia

Artists inspire: Frida Kahlo costume

I didn't plan to attend a halloween party. It was quite spontaneous and I had to come up with an idea for the cosume quickly. I'm currently reading the biography of Frida Kahlo, so the choice was obvious!

These are self-portraits of Frida thet gave me inspiration. Although Frida wore very colourful costumes, I decided to wear something red and nude with a pop of violet and other colours.

Here it is! I made not only the flower crown, but also Frida's characteristic evebrows. They look scary o me. Well, it was Halloween! How did you spend your Halloween? Is it a day that you used to celebrate? To be honest, this was the first year when I attended a party like this, it's not a tradition here, in Poland. That's why I ask!
Have a beautiful day,
Julia

PS: "artists inspire" is a new category here on the blog. Stay tuned to see the updates in the near future!
