Treasures of Summer: Lavender wreath

You migh remember big dry flowers I showed here. Together with lavender they turned into a wreath!

Work in progress.
And the kitty bonus! If you don't have anybody to help you, hire a cat.

This is rather a draft of post than a post, sorry for that. I have quite busy thime when I hardly ever find a moment to think. Anyway, I should stop complaining. This wreath takes part in a wreath challenge that girls from addicted to crafts blog have organised! Wish me luck!

{To do list:} Ten before Twenty

Today is my 19th birthday. As you might or might not know, I'm a to-do-list person. I though about a short list of things I want to do before I turn 20. And just because it's my day today, I share the picture prom my private life I'd probably never share:
*

10 before 20:
1. Design and sew a dress. (Again? Booooring.)
2. Learn one Shakira/Beyonce dance. (Always wanted, now I have an occasion to say it in public and motivation to learn!)
3. Visit four new places in Poland. (I should know my country better, right?)
4. Make a short movie. (Because I start to like this stuff!)
5. Do charity stuff.
6. Visit an old friend.
7. Take part in a photography challenge. (Never did it before.)
8. Practise calligraphy and learn new fonts.
9. Try coffe art. (Although I don't drink coffee, everyone in my house would love to drink one with pretty pattern on top every morning!)
10. Start to learn a new language.
*
1. Zaprojektuj i uszyj sukienkę. (Znoooowu?)
2. Naucz się jednego układu z teledysków Shakiry/Beyonce. (Po prostu zawsze chciałam! Teraz powiedziałam to publicznie i mam motywację)
3. Odwiedź 4 nowe miejsca w Polsce. (Muszę lepiej znać swój kraj)
4. Nakręć krótki film. (Bo coraz bardziej mi się to podoba)
5. Rób rzeczy charytatywn(i)e.
6. Odwiedź starego znajomego.
7. Weź udział w fotograficznym wyzwaniu. (Jeszcze tego nie robiłam, aż wstyd)
8. Ćwicz kaligrafię i naucz się nowych czcionek.
10. Zacznij uczyć się nowego języka.

As you see, there's nothing crazy. I give myself time till my 20th birthday, exactly 15. September 2014.

Recently I made (2)

Recently I made is a new series on TSS. I make a lot of things that I don't show here because I think they are too small and simple projects. I'll be showing some of them in one post once for a while.
 *
Recently I made to nowa seria na TSS.

You've probably seen this pin on pinterest before... I needed to have a blouse like this! I don't know the source of this picture and couldn't find any instructions, so here you have. This is a 3 minutes DIY and all you need to do is cut out the shape showed above in a cotton blouse. It doesn't get destroyed while washing!
*
Pewnie część z Was widziałam to zdjęcie już wcześniej... musiałam mieć taką bluzkę!

While being in Tuscany I've been preparing a lot of delicious food. Just look at prosciutto  e melone...
Będąc w Toskanii przygotowywałam masę dobrego jedzenia. Tylko popatrzcie na prosciutto e melone...

Remember that at the beginning of June I made soap? It's ready to use now! Just because I didn't add anything to it before, I mixed one part of liquid soap, one part of herbal brew and one spoon of vinegar. Now I use it as shampoo or body wash.
*

Have a beautiful day,

{DIY:} Sheer floral gloves for summer

A little sewing project I started last summer (!) but had no motivation to complete. Now as summer is in bloom again I finally managed to end and wear them! It took me very long, because I was discouraged with how much time consuming this project was – I sewn the first gloves in five hours. It sounds impossible even to me now, but it just needed some skills. See the full how-to below.
*

I love the pattern of this fabric and in my opinion these gloves are amazing. Sorry for the messy hairstyle, it was more glamorous when I was going out... Don't believe in pictures that show women riding cabrio with perfect waves on their heads;p

How to start? All you need to have is a sheer elastic fabric you like, scissors, needle and thread. You also need a custom pattern in your size that is easy to make. Put your hand on the fabric and draw the outline of your hand in the way showed below, then cut. Measure of your thumb and also draw a shape similar to this on the right. The circumference of your thimb in its root should be the lenght of the curve at the bottom of the shape. Remember to leave about 3 mm for stitches. You've just made a pattern for one glove!
Jak zacząć? Potrzebujesz przezroczystego rozciągliwego materiału, nożyczek, igły i nitki. Musisz także zrobić swój własny wykrój. Połóż rękę na tkaninie i obrysuj w sposób pokazany poniżej, następnie wytnij. Zmierz kciuk i narysuj kształt pokazany po prawej. Obwód kciuka u nasady to długość krzywizny na dole. Wytnij pamiętając o pozostawieniu około 2-3mm na szwy. Właśnie wykroiłaś materiał na jedną rękawiczkę!

Fold the bigger piece into a half and pin together - you shold get something like a glove for four fingers. Sew the hems together (if you can sew elastic fabric in the sewing machine, feel free to do it this way). Sew also the upper hems of the 'thumb hood'. Now comes the tricky part. Put your hand on the glove and see where the thumb should be, make a small hole there. As the material is elastic you should be able to put the whole glove on and see how much bigger hole you need to feel comfortable with thumb. Cut it, attach the 'hood' with pins and sew the hems together. Done!
*
Złóż większą część na pół i przypnij szpilkami - powstanie coś w stylu rękawiczki na cztery palce. Zszyj brzegi (jeśli umiesz, możesz na maszynie). Zszyj też górne brzegi 'kapturka na kciuk'. Teraz nadchodzi trudniejszy moment. Zobacz ile miejsca jeszcze potrzebujesz by poruszać swobodnie kciukiem i wytnij nadmiar materiału. Przypnij 'kapturek' i zszyj brzegi. Zrobione!

And something for people who wanted to see my handmade skirt on me;)

Summer is still not over and if you want to try something new I'll recommend you some of my previous experimental DIYs: this, this, this, this, this or this. You'll find something suitable for sure;)
*

Sheer skirt. It's made of two pieces of fabric and elastic. I've also sewn gloves from the floral fabric, but I won't show them now, they deserve a separate post!;)
*
Przezroczysta spódnica uszyta z dwóch kawałków tkaniny i gumki.

The very first cream I made in my life! Hyaluronan, rose water and shea butter are the main ingredients. The consistence isn't perfect, but I'm really proud anyway!
*

Berry and nutella ice-cream -  I used recipe from here (second one), but replaced cherries with fresh berries we picked while being in the countryside. Nutella ice-cream idea is from Handimania. Both kinds of ice-cream were made without using ice-cream machine.
*
This one you've seen. New biscuit-like blog look!
To już widzieliście. Nowy, biszkoptowy wygląd bloga!

Have you done some little projects lately? Write in comments, I'd love to see them!
Robiliście ostatnio rzeczy w tym stylu? Podzielcie się w komentarzach, z chęcią zobaczę!

Spring etsy update!

I've been waiting a while to announce it officially. Here it is! The etsy update. Although these things might look simple, designing, sewing and taking pictures took me about 3 months. I decided not to hurry and it was a good decision. Hope you like the results! You can find it all here.
*
Czekałam, by oficjalnie ogłosić ponowne otwarcie sklepu. Możecie znaleźć to wszystko tu.

Napping kitty sketchbook (DIY!)

This is my very first attempt of making sketchbook. It was almost obligatory - I wanted to have something mobile where I can try different techniques of drawing or painting. What is so special about this one? It consists of four diffenet types of paper. I've never seen a sketchbook like this, so I had to make it by myself!

What I did? At first, I found this bookbinding tutorial. It was something essential I had to learn. This tutorial shows exactly how you make a sketchbook. Of course, I made it a bit differently. I used (as I said above) four types of paper: watercolour 300g/m3, 250g/m3, 180g/m3 cardboard and standard paper for pencil drawings 90 g/m3. Now I know it was the best thing I could make! Second difference is the cover that I made of leather (don't ask me how I made it, it was quite complicated.... or maybe ask me, but it would need another post). The imprint of a napping cat looks lovely in my opinion. Another thing I made is a colour palette. I wanted to have a look on how the colour of my watercolour crayons (a gorgeous set of 72 I got from Szymon for my bday) look when used as paints.

So, once again, if you want to make a sketchbook, just follow the instructions from the link. Plus do something special to personalize i!:)

How do you like it? Did you ever make a sketchbook, book or album by yourself?
I'll share more works from this sketchbook soon!

Redecor your room

Hello readers! I'd like to say I'm sorry that it has been quiet here for a few days too much. Now I've started my life as an uni student and I need to learn how to manage my time better than berfore. Anyway, here's something I was suppoused to show as a part of my Summer list. It's a bit too late for summer lists, but I want to share it though!

This wall was painted this summer. Frames collected through months or even years found their new place.

I LOVE this part. A little herbarium around my mirror. Even if it's freezy outside, I still have a feel of Summer inside.

That's how I organize my jewellery and stuff. This deer was originally silvery, so I just had to paint it and make a small floral decoupage. I use the antlers as jewellery holder, really useful! On the left you can see a fern-adorned box that I use to store some of my rings.

Everytime I get a rose I hang it on my curtain and leave to dry. Then I put it here and never throw away.

This is my desk. When you see a picture of items with brown background on this blog, you can guess it was taken here. Currently on my desk: new (!) sewing machine and other stuff I use/make/like but did'nt find a proper place for.

Just another shelf. The best part of it is an old microscope!

Close-up: the wall.

When I was in Siena (Tuscany, Italy) I visited a calligraphy workshop. I was amazed by the man who was working there (and by the amount of inks and nibs he had!). I asked if he could write me a sentence and he agreed. I came back in an hour or so (time for thinking about what I want) and told him this sentence. He wrote me two versions of it, told that he really likes this sentence and he'd like to use it. I got it for half price.

Hanging frame on my wooden doors.

A corner where I store my sewing materials when I don't use it.

... and there I store other craft supplies like ribbons, glue, paints etc.

That's everything Iwanted to show you that is new in my room. This task (redecoring) made me rethink the organization and storage again. I'm happy that I could fulfill almost all that I had written down on my Summer list. I'm also happy with the tasks I didn't fulfill, there's nothing I didn't make because I couldn't. That satisfies me a lot!
The end of this list means the end of writing about Summer. Now the Autum starts seriously.

Have a beautiful day,
Julia
